One Touch Global Technologies, Inc offers intelligent fax card products manufactured by Brooktrout and Eicon. For environments with high volume inbound or outbound faxing, intelligent fax cards are recommended for the following key reasons: Fax Card Processors – Intelligent fax cards have on card microprocessors that allow fax transmission at the highest possible bit rate. The bit rate is determined during the communication handshake between the sending and receiving device. Microprocessors on these fax cards may support advanced compression methods that improve the quality of the fax, minimize transmission errors and increase overall throughput. In addition, on board processing allows support for DID (Direct Inward Dialing) or DDI (Dial Direct Inwards). DID/DDI allows inbound fax calls to be routed directly to a specific destination without user intervention. When the fax card receives a call, the telephone company provides a signal on the line with a specific number of digits and the value of those digits. The fax card detects the signal and passes the digits along to the fax application software to route the fax once it is received. Intelligent fax cards support the different methods of telephony communication. Analog Fax Card – communicate with standard analog telephone lines. Direct Inward Dialing (DID) Fax Card – The multi-line Direct Inward Dial (DID) fax boards are digital and have an additional power supply in some cases. These fax cards communicate with digital lines provided from the CO (Central Office) or Telco provider. Digital Fax Card PRI (Primary Rate Interface) Fax Card -– These ISDN based cards consist of 23 B-Channels and one 64 Kilobits per second D-Channel. The B-Channel is used to carry fax transmissions, and the D-Channel carries the signaling and control data. T1 Fax Card – These digital fax cards have 24 individual channels that use time-division multiplexing and pulse code modulation for transmission speeds up to 1.544 megabits per second. E1 Fax Card – These European digital fax card models are similar to the U.S. T1 fax cards. E1 fax cards support up to 30 channels and have transmission speeds up to 2.048 megabits per second.
